Monochomatic Layout

This summer is just flying by so fast! It's time for another Thursday sketch challenge at Chicas Gettin Crafty. This weeks layout:

So this is my layout.  I know, its a pumpkin carving layout in August, but I have always wanted to scrap this picture of the Dachshund I carved into this pumpkin, but I just never had a layout in mind.  I also did this layout as a monochromatic layout with just a few punches of black to make the different shades of orange 'pop.'

August Wedding Challenge

Hey Everyone! Hope you are having a great summer! For the wedding challenge at Chics Gettin Crafty, I did a layout of my family during my sister's wedding in 2004. The day started out with a trip to the hair salon to get our hair done. The second picture is of my family after the wedding ceremony. The first picture on the bottom left is my sister and her husband at the gift opening the day after the wedding. The middle picture is of my parents dancing at the reception. Of course I had to include a picture of the cake, because my Mom made the beautiful cake!! It was a great day for a wedding!

July 28th Sketch

Wow I can't believe its almost the end of July already! Where did the summer go?  Well today is Thursday, so that means its time for the Lets Get Peachy weekly sketch!  So here is the sketch this week:
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!! Well like most people, I love ice cream. I will eat just about any kind of ice cream with toppings on it. The dogs also love ice cream. We either buy them their own 'doggie' ice cream or they eat the ice cream right off of our spoon. They also enjoy licking out the bowl! Thanks for looking!

July 21st Sketch

This is the July 21st Sketch at Lets Get Peachy! Make sure you visit Lets Get Peachy to do your take of the sketch!

This layout is my anti-boredom layout. Now I know you are asking, how is this an anti boredom layout, but let me explain. My 2 dogs are always running around doing something entertaining or playing with each other. This is one of those moments when they were resting next to each other in the chair, looking so cute. So even when they are laying in the chair together, they always have a way of making your day brighter by the little looks that they give or the way that they lay next to each other, as they are doing in these pictures. I just have to look at them, and my day is lifted. Thanks for looking!

July Recipe Challenge

The July Challenge for Let's Get Peachy was to use as many 'ingredients' from the scraping recipe.
This challenge was a lot of fun to do! I was able to use 7 of the recipe 'ingredients' on my layout. This is a picture taken in 2004, I believe, of my Mom, me, and my 2 sisters, Erin & Emily. We all bought identical purses with our initials on them. The 'ingredients' that I used are: ink, buttons, distressing (around the edges) a punch, flowers, ribbon, & fussy cutting (2 banners).

Strawberry picking

Brad and I went strawberry picking on July 3rd.  It was one of the last day of the season!  The berries were smaller this year because of all the rain we had this spring, but they still were good!  I decided to make a strawberry pie, freezer jam, and strawberry shortcake!  Everything tasted good!!!

Let's Ride! Riding season is right around the corner and boy I can't wait for warmer weather so Brad and I can ride again. So I've been scrapping a lot of riding pictures right now to get our Harley album caught up again. This is a picture of Brad walking down the lane at the campground in Tomahawk during the Fall Ride in September 2010. It was cool outside but a great day in Tomahawk riding and visiting with friends!

"Smile Challenge"

Hey Everyone!!

For the smile challenge on Lets Get Peachy, I scrapped a picture of my future mother in law, sister in law and I, getting ready for the first official ride of the 2010 riding season, which is the reason for the big smiles! The weather was perfect for a ride, hot, sunny, and a lot of Harleys! This is what the journaling said: "May, 29, 2010, was the first official ride of the season, which is why we are all smiling. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day filled with a lot of Harleys! We were also riding to pay tribute to all Veterans who have served this country, so that we can be free!"

Lets Get Peachy Sketch

Here is my take on the Lets Get Peachy June 9th Sketch

This is a layout of Tinker, with one of her first dog toys that she ever had. She loved this toy so much and played with it a lot. This picture happens to be one of many where she was posing (by herself) with her 'Izzy.' The reason why the title is 'Tinker Toy' is because that's how we came up with her name. She was a small little pup when we first saw her, small like a toy, so she was named Tinker.

Happy 6th Birthday Tinker!!

I cant believe it, but Tinker is 6 years old today but she will always be my little puppy!   It seem like we just got her yesterday.  As always, we bought a little cupcake for the girls to eat.  They enjoyed licking some of the frosting off the cupcake and then I cut up a little bit of the cupcake for them to eat.  As you can see, they enjoyed it!

Veteran Tribute Ride

As you know, Brad and I take part in a Veterans Tribute ride every Memorial Day weekend and this year was no different.  Last year it was 94+ degrees for the ride, but this year, it was cold and rainy to start the day, but turned into a nice day.  The ride started in Iron Mountain, MI and went to Powers, Carney, and ended in Florence WI, for a party at Northern Lites.  Thought I would share a few pictures from the ride.

Brad and I after riding to Iron Mountain in the rain, thank goodness for leather and rain gear.
Our wet bikes, drying off between rain showers.
Honor ceremony at Carney, where we stopped to have lunch.

Look at the 3 bikes behind the blue trike, that is me, Laurieann and Brad!

May 19th Sketch

Here is my next Sketch to Life layout for Let's Get Peachy
This is todays sketch

This is a layout of my Grandpa Miller.  It's one of my favorites because it shows my Grandpa sitting at his desk at work.  This is one of the ways that I always remember him looking....in his dickie work clothes, hat, cigar and sitting at his desk in his office.  The aqua adding machine was always fun to play with when we visited Grandpa at the 'shop' so I based my colored/pattern papers around that color. (the pattern paper is kind of hard to see.  If you click on the picture, it should enlarge and you can see the patterned papers)

National Scrapbooking Day

Welcome to LGP's Kats First Ever Blog Hop!

We're celebrating National Scrapbooking Day at "Let's Get Peachy"! To kick off our celebration of design team reveals, challenges and fun, our Peachy Kat's have created some special projects and posted them on our blogs. All of us are looking forward to your visit and hope that our projects both delight and inspire you!

So for my National Scrapbooking Day project, I altered a candle.  Stamping on candles is so easy to do and its such a nice touch to a gift!

So lets get started!
You will need: tissue paper, ink pads, stamp set, blank candle, wax paper, heat gun & a glue stick.
Stamp your image on the tissue paper and cut closely around the edges.
Put a small dab of glue on each image so it will stick to where you want it on the candle.  Position all pieces on the candle.
Tear a piece of wax paper just slightly bigger than the candle.  Wrap it around the candle and hold the wax paper on the back side.  Make sure the waxy side is towards the candle!
Heat up your embossing gun for 30-40 seconds until it is nice and hot. Moving quickly, wave it over the area where the stamped image is; be sure to keep the wax paper nice and tight. (Every candle has a different wax melting point, but you should see a change begin to take place within a few seconds) As the candle heats up, the pressure from the wax paper should push the image into the melting wax of the candle, embedding the image and leaving your image intact.  If you need to do the backside, use a new piece of wax paper.  Each piece can only be used once!
Slowly peel the wax paper away.  I find that the candle can look a little dull after pulling the wax away and I just take a Kleenex and wipe the candle to restore the shine!!
Lastly, if you are giving your candle away as a gift, dress it up a little bit by putting it in a cello bag and tying it with some ribbon or put some garland around a candle holder to dress it up.
So to win this candle, please become a follower and leave a comment. I'm not requiring you to make a candle, but please try this technique and post your picture in your comment!  I will pick a winner May 9th. 8pm est.!

May 5th Sketch

So the position that I have with Lets get Peachy is called Sketch to Life. So what I do, is take a sketch or another layout, and I make it my own. The sketch is like a map to follow for the layout that I'm doing. So here is the Sketch for May 5th
This  is the layout that I did.  Brad and I took the Miller Brewery tour a few years ago.  I didn't know what to do with the layout because I wanted to include the coasters that we were giving during the beer tasting.  I made this sketch into a 2 page layout.

Welcome to the National No Housework Day Online Blog hop! If you have arrived not knowing until now about the hop, no problem...just go back to If It's Groovy where this hop starts and work your way through. You may find games, prizes, projects and how do-you-dos along the path :) We would appreciate it if you sign up to keep in touch with us by "following" and would love your comments!

Perhaps you arrived here from Red Car Productions, Great! Hope you enjoyed that stop and the others so far!!!

We celebrate this national holiday by scrapping today and into the weekend with projects that remind us of housework or getting away from it!!! Take the day off, put up your feet and let's hop!

So in honor of this day, I made a 'No Housework' or 'Rainy Day' bank. I used a plastic container that I bought, which had nuts in it.
I then decided what papers and embellishments I wanted to use to decorate the outside of the container.

This technique, can be used for altering many items, such as a crystal light container which can be turned into a dog treat container or a concentrate orange juice container can be turned into a pen/pencil holder. Some of the materials I used for this project are: We R Memory Keepers Paper: Grandmas Kitchen-Pen Pals, Busy Bursts and Dippity dots, misc flowers, Making Memories leather frame, a tag, glue dots, misc ribbon.

So if you want to make your version of a 'No Housework Day Bank' please leave a link to your picture in the comments, but to win the PRIZE, just sign up to follow my blog and leave a comment!  The prize is a small spa gift set which includes: bath salts, spa socks, nail kit and a back massager!

All prizes will be announced on Monday 4/11.  Check back here for this blogs winner or If It's Groovy.

Mommy's little helper

Tinker is always right beside me no matter where I go.  When I sit on the couch she sits on my lap or next to me.  So when I sit on the desk chair to work on craft stuff, shes right there with me, usually laying behind me in the chair, but sometimes she stands up like she is in the photos!  I wouldn't have it any other way!
