Christmas gifts

Now that Christmas is over, I can share alot of the stuff that I made for family members. I made my Mom and 2 sisters matching journal books and tins. They turned out really neat and I learned alot about mod podge!!
The yellow tin was made for my sister Erin, using splendor swirl by Bo bunny press. All edges were inked and matching ribbon applied.
The tin with the rolling pins was made for my sister Emily. The paper was rolling pin paper by creative imaginations and baking words(not sure of the name) from the same line
The strawberry tin was made for my Mom using strawberry patch paper by Stemma. All edges were also inked and matching ribbon was used to finish off the lid.
The tins can by used as banks for 'stamping supplies' or storage.

Cardinal Candle

I made this cardinal candle for my Grandma. I used the stamping on candles technique on SCS, so I thought I would give it a try. I turned out great! I bought a glass pedestal and added the cranberry garland. I also stamped the branch shadow stamp lightly around the sides and back of the candle, to give it a little color, but it didn't show up in the picture.
Stamp: a Cardinal Christmas
ink: riding hood red, old olive, black.

Dog Christmas card

This is the card that I made for Tinker and Blossom to send to the other dogs/cats in the family. (YES, I know I'm weird, but I love my Doxies!!)

The doxie stamp and greeting, was purchased from 'CowTown Stamps'. I inked the 2 dogs to look like Tinker and Blossom, because this is exactly how they play!

Christmas card

I love cardinals and the stampin up a cardinal Christmas stamp is very pretty! This is the card that I made this year for Christmas. I wanted an easy card (not alot of coloring) so I stamped the cardinal in real red and inked the edges in real red ink also. I think it turned out very nice!
Paper: red, very vanilla, kraft, and Chocolate chip
ink: real red, versa mark, black
real red ribbon from stampin up (it has polka dots on the other side!)
silver snowflake brad (had to use a white punched snowflake w/a silver brad, also-I ran out of the snowflake brad about half way through make my cards and couldn't find more anywhere!)

I also made these cute pattie mint spiders! I saw them on SCS and had to make them. They are very easy to make, and they use up alot of scraps. All you need is the photo corner punch, scallop punch and a single hole punch. I added the google eyes which really made the spiders cute!!

medallion stamp

This is quickly becoming a favorite stamp. It's so simple but elegant. It can also be used for just about any card.
card 1:
ink: summer sun, chocolate chip
paper: summer sun, chocolate chip, white
I stamped the middle circle in chocolate chip and then punched it out. It was then adhered in the center to make it look like a sunflower! I also added chocolate chip ribbon.
Card 2:
ink: old olive
paper: vanilla, old olive
This is a simple card and I haven't decided what I'm going to use it for yet. It can actually go either way. I found some ric rak which matched the old olive perfectly.

Coffee Card set

This is a card set that I made as a gift. It includes 8 cards (2 of each design). All cards were made using the espress yourself stamp set from Stampin up.
Card one: Coffee mug
ink: chocolate chip, ruby red, black, old olive, creamy caramel, versa ink
paper: choloate chip, creamy caramel, white, old olive
I stamped the beans on the chocolate chip with versa ink and them embossed them with clear embossing powder.
Card 2:3 mugs
ink: olive green, pumpkin pie, pacific point, chocolate chip
paper: chocolale chip, olive green, white
I used a CB embossing plate and added green ribbon that matched old olive.
Card 3: 5 mugs
ink: creamy caramel, ruby red, olive green, chocolate chip, versa ink
paper: off white, creamy caramel, old olive
punches: scallop border punch, corner punch
I took a mug and inked it up with versa ink and stamped it on my paper. I then took creamy caramel pastel and applied it to the versa ink to make it look like a coffce mug ring.
Card 4: transparency
ink: black, ruby red, old olive, creamy caramel
paper: transparency, very vanilla, old olive
punch: curly label
ribbon
I made this card with a transparency. I backed the olive green with very vanilla on the inside so that you wouldn't see the adhesive. I did the same on the inside and the back of the card, with the very vanilla on the inside and the old olive on the back.
The plastic box was purchased but I decorated it to match the card set.

Harley Davidson Cards

These 2 cards turned out awesome! I love the 'z' fold on this card. I made these cards once again without a general greeting on them because they can be used for any occasion. Behind the 'z' fold is a common Harley saying 'It is not the destination, but the journey.' You can't tell by the picture but the diamond plate paper is embossed so you can feel each diamond when you run your fingers across it!

June 19th Flooding

June 19th, heavy rains hit West Allis, flooding many areas. We had a knock on the door at 4am from our neighbors telling us the basement was flooded. We soon found out, it wasn't only the basement, but the garage, and the back parking lot. We couldn't get into the basement because there was about 4 to 5 feet (yes I mean feet) of water. So we started working in the garage first, getting our Harley's out of the garage and our 2 vehicles out of the back parking lot. Thank god we have a blazer and a truck and that they were parked out in the parking lot, which saved both of our vehicles. Many of the other tenants have severe water damage in their cars. The Harley's are also ok but were in almost a foot of water.

As for the basement, the water had to be pumped out, which took hours and we were finally able to get into the basement at about 11am. There was stuff every where. Thank god we didn't have sewage back up, just alot of water, dirt, and oil. After the cleanup, we didn't lose alot of stuff, because we had mostly empty boxes in our storage unit. We did lose alot of Christmas decorations and a stereo system, but it could have been alot worse.
Picture 1: the basement door at 4:30am, the water had been 3 inches above the door handle
Picture 2: our 2 Harley's sitting in water in the garage-the water in the garage was to the top of the 2nd cement block
Picture 3: the basement at 10:17am (being pumped)-our storage unit is the 2nd from the left, with the treadmill in front of it
Picture 4: the dumpsters outside (garbage from 2 buildings-16 units)

Tinker's 4th Birthday!

Tinker turned 4 years old on June 8. I baked cupcakes for her and Blossom to eat. We put party hats on both of the girls but they didn't stay on long and it was hard to get pictures of them together. I can't believe we've had Tinker for almost 4 years already!

Veterans Day ride

Sorry for not keeping up with the blog, but I'm going to try to post more often.

For the past 3 years, Brad and I have taken part in the Veterans Tribute Ride on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, in Iron Mountain, MI. This year though, I rode my own bike. It was alot of fun and we put on over 200 miles! Brad's parents, Ponch and Cheryl, and brother, Aaron also were on the ride. There ended up being about 300 bikes and approximately 500 people who participated. It is an awesome site to see so many bikes riding together. My bike is the black one on the left and Brad's is the black cherry one next to mine.

Sunday, March 1, 2009

I decided to start this blog to showcase my cards and scrapbook pages so that I could share them with family and friends. I figured this was one of the easiest ways to post them. I will try to update it as I create new cards or pages to share.

As most of you know, I was recently released from Sears after 9.5 years, because my position was eliminated. This has given me alot of time to sit down and create many cards and scrapbook pages. (while still being paid :-) All cards that I post, are also for sale, with prices ranging from $2-5, which includes the envelope.

Well, check back often as I get to know how to blog, I will be changing things around on this page.
